When you think of Dennis Schroder of Braunschweig, Germany, the one word that comes to mind the most is journeyman. On Friday, Schroder’s remarkable NBA journey continued when he joined his 12th NBA franchise.
According to Rogers Sportsnet on Friday, Schroder was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Charlotte Hornets. In addition to Schroder, the Hornets received cash. The Cavaliers received point guard Tre Mann of Gainesville, Florida.
In 2025-26, Schroder averaged 10.8 points per game, while playing for the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers. In 70 games, Schroder averaged 4.9 assists per game, and 2.7 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of .405, three point percentage of .329 and a free throw percentage of .884.
The other nine NBA franchises Schroder has played for are the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons. In the playoffs, Schroder has also been productive as he has averaged 10.7 points per game in 91 postseason contests.
What Schroder brings to the Hornets is stability and versatility. He can play both guard positions effectively and provide the Hornets a viable option when starter Coby White needs some rest. Four times in Schroder’s career, he has received Sixth Man of the Year votes.
Mann only averaged 5.5 points last season, and will definitely be a bench player for Cleveland. He is joining his third NBA franchise after three seasons each with the Thunder and Hornets.
