The replays and sectionals have been reviewed from Saturday’s Rosehill meeting. Our analyst has Black Booked a pair of Baker runners that look ready to string wins together.
Big Papa
Big Papa was an impressive 2L winner in BM78 company over 1300m at Rosehill on Saturday. He sat 1L behind the leader before cruising up at the top of the straight looking nothing but the winner. They ran 0.21s quicker than the fillies and mare 2 races later and he looks capable to working his way up to a mile. We now know he just doesn’t go on the Heavy.

It’s not often you see a horse win a 2400m Listed race at start 12 but that’s just what the Baker Kiwi import did in the Queen Elizabeth Cup. He settled in the perfect position 1 out/1 back and strode up to join the leaders halfway up the straight. He outstayed them the final furlong. I do have question marks over the form with the runner up having a BM rating of 88 but it’s his upside that is easy to get excited about. He now has 6 wins from 12 starts and heads north to the Caloundra Cup next start.
