The replays and sectionals have been reviewed from Saturday’s Randwick meeting. Our analyst has Black Booked a pair of runners that hit the line nicely to finish 2nd 1st up over trips just short of their best.
Big Red Tequila
The Pride mare resumed over 1000m and settled one pair forward of the rear before finding herself all over heels over the first half of the straight. When the split finally came at the 200m, she jumped out of the ground to finish 2.3L 2nd to impressive all the way winner Ice Kool. Her 11.54s final 200m was the fastest for the race. She will be a bet stepping up to 1100-1200m in similar company next start.
General Salute
The Ryan & Alexiou 5yo was a real eye-catcher resuming off a nice trial in the Listed Bob Charley Stakes over 1100m. He settled off midfield before working hard all the way to the line to finish 0.6L 2nd to all the way winner Wanaruah. 1300-1500m is his distance sweet spot so he will appreciate getting out to those trips 2nd and 3rd up. He may be sent north for the Brisbane Winter Carnival otherwise the Listed Civic Stakes at Randwick in a fortnight would be a nice target.
