Black Book: Horses You Must Back Next Start From Canterbury 1/1

The replays and sectional times have been analysed from Canterbury’s New Years Day meeting. Our analyst is keen to follow an impressive Snowden filly

Raskol

The Russian Revolution filly started a short-priced favourite on debut at Gosford and was slow out of the gates over 1000m. The market was cautious with her at Canterbury today but she pinged the gates to settle behind the leader. She was held up on heels for a crucial 400m but when the run came at the 150m she exploded to score a 0.7L victory. With clear running she wins by much more. She ran 0.48s quicker than the colts and geldings maiden that opened the card. She looks capable of stringing wins together.

Monopolistic

The Savabeel 3yo may of left some punters frustrated finishing 0.7L 2nd at the SP of $1.85 but I thought it was an excellent effort over 1900m at just his 2nd career start. He settled off midfield and had to make a wide run and was only run down by a much more seasoned horse with 12 runs experience. He looks a stayer in the making moving forward.
