Wild Courage, a TSB Black Book runner, has broken her maiden at $11 at Wyong on Thursday for trainer Ciaron Maher and jockey Regan Bayliss.
The three-year-old filly (Wild Ruler x Unbridled Courage) jumped from barrier 2 with 55kg and held off the $1.90 favourite Mayflower by 0.22 lengths in the Schneider – Atkore – Pipemakers Super Maiden Plate (1100m) on a Good 4 track. Extreme Courage ($17) was third, 1.55 lengths from the winner, according to FormRace results, with Wild Courage starting at $11.
Why she was in our Black Book
Wild Courage went into our Black Book after a luckless first-up fourth at Newcastle over 900m, where she was held up and beaten only 1.6 lengths. The extra 200m and a good draw at Wyong suited her second-up, and she delivered.
