Best Of The Best: Our Wednesday Specials – Kensington 29/9

Midweek Sydney racing returns to Kensington this week for a strong 7 race card. We’ve picked out a value runner that will be on the speed and hard to run down and a European import looking to land back to back wins for subscribers.

Kensington Race 2 – Riviera Blue

  • Trainer: G White
  • Jockey: R King
  • Barrier: 13

Riviera Blue has come up a great price after a gallant 4th on debut over 1100m on this track. He jumped extremely well from a wide gate but quickly found 3 on speed runners kicking up inside him. From here jockey Josh Parr was forced to drop back into a 3 wide position with cover  behind the leaders in a race that was rated with a very fast tempo. Despite the wide run, he was solid through the line without threatening when other on speed runners dropped right out.

Looking at today’s race, he will have to contend with another wide barrier but doesn’t appear to have the same pace inside him. If he can jump sharply again he should be able to cross into a positive position. He finds a field where 8 of the 14 are having their first start and it’s also important to note that the race purely consists of stables that don’t like to be too aggressive with their inexperienced horses, Waller has over half the field. Should be hard to run down and looks like a great each way bet.

Kensington Race 5 – Promise of Success

  • Trainer: J O’Shea
  • Jockey: H Bowman
  • Barrier: 5

Promise of Success kicked a goal for us 1st up on this track over 1300m and the European mare has plenty in her favour stepping up to 1400m in the same grade with only an extra kg to carry. Her racing pattern is the only concern, there was an awkward moment when Bowman had to rush her across heels before producing a blistering sprint to put away a field that was arguably stronger than this.

The 7 horse field mitigates potential dangers coming from the rear as she will look to progress to stronger races than this.

Tip: 3 Units Win Promise of Success @$1.6 with Topsport
