BARRIER FINE FOR HONG KONG WARRIOR
October 25, 2023
HONG Kong champion Romantic Warrior has drawn barrier seven in the $5 million Cox Plate which his trainer Danny Shum assessed as being reasonable.
“Seven is okay,” Shum said.
Shum said Romantic Warrior had worked well at The Valley and had improved in fitness since his fourth in the Turnbull Stakes at his Australian debut.
“He hadn’t been raced for four-and-a-half months before the Turnbull Stakes. If he can settle and get some cover, he’ll hit the line strong,” Shum said.

“He handled the sharp turn, so he’ll be a big chance to win the Cox Plate.”
The Aidan O’Brien trained Victoria Road who has been well backed drew barrier six. That is the barrier which has supplied three of the past five winners of the Cox Plate.
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s in-form Alligator Blood drew barrier five and Mr Brightside drew barrier two.
