Race 4 – 2:08PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Beat The Bro

Dropped back to 1400m from the mile at Pinjarra last Saturday from the carpark draw, covered extra ground in the run and was superb in the way he hit the line for 2nd in an extremely fast run race dominated by those on-speed. The start prior over the mile was crunched in betting and didn’t get any room whatsoever in the straight and didn’t come off the bridle, still finishing only 1.3L off eventual winner No Surrender. Horse is flying. That run over the mile to me suggests the 1800m should be no issue to him. Harvey rides him beautifully, can lob midfield with cover and can be the one blousing them late. Very keen and clear best of the day.

4 Units WIN

Race 6 – 3:20PM MRS MAC’S HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
11. Sweet Strawberry – 3. Double The Pro – 9. Glasgow Girl – 16. Boyish

Sweet Strawberry

On the quick back up from a very good run last Saturday at Pinjarra in the Pearl Classic. Immediately taken back by Turner from the carpark draw, in an impossible position turning for home and loved the way she hit the line. She has good gate speed, and from 7 here I think she can land 1-1 and box seat in a race where the pace will be clapped on. Has a dynamic turn of foot and can be the one capitalising late from a very economical run in transit.

Double The Pro

Drops in grade here and was luckless again last start, 3 back the fence, caught behind the first horse beaten Prince Devoutly when absolutely bolting for a run and got no sort of crack at them, with Pateman sitting up late, don’t see many worse watches. Gets McGruddy on in a race with an abundance of speed and one that looks easier on paper. Gets the split when he needs them and he can be playing a role.

Race 7 – 3:55PM CYRIL FLOWER STAKES (1200 METRES)

4. Lockroy – 9. Majinika – 1. Carocapo – 7. Yeah Dardy

Race 8 – 4:35PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET – CHALLENGE STAKES (1500 METRES)
6. Western Empire – 8. Solaia – 3. Kissonallforcheeks – 7. La Farola
Quality race for the 3YO’s.
Western Empire

Best maiden in Aus finally cracked it for a win down at Bunbury when wide no cover throughout and just ridden like the best horse, Pike sitting up late and not needing to get the stick out. Stepped up in distance from 1100 to 1600m essentially (despite the race being over 1400m) from his maiden to the Fairetha where he covered a mile of extra ground in the run and was an absolute moral beaten before a genuinely huge performance in the WA Guineas. Maps to get a plum run leaders back here from the gate and is going to be very hard to hold out late. Big opinion, keen.

2.5 Units WIN

Kissonallforcheeks

was far too good for them fresh over 1100m a fortnight ago. 1100m-1500m has to be a query as does the draw. Interesting to see tactics here, roll forward and hope for some luck? Or snag and try loop a much, much deeper field. They hadn’t planned for this (was intent on Melbourne run next start before plans changed). Wonder why? Either way, just can’t have again.

Solaia

Likely lands in the breeze (where she does her best work) outside Em Tee Aye. Another in terrific form and is no query at the trip. Flogged a quality 60+ field when breezing over the mile two back, before last start stepping up to a 66+ and just being bloused late by a claiming Cryptic Love, beating home Last Of The Line, Comfort Me, Agent Jay, Red Publisher and Cousin Ivan who have all run well since in a very solid form reference. Has had a one month freshen since that last effort for this and will be very hard to beat up on speed for Lucy. In my opinion, main danger.

La Farola

Is in terrific form. Flogged spruik horse Tambora (will know more about that form line after today) last start over the mile when Parnham just outrode Pike. Sat midfield, Parnham got trucking up 600m from home with plenty of horse underneath him and gave nothing else a chance. One of few in this race that has no query at the distance and maps to land in the 1-1 in a beautiful trailing position. Just not sure she is up to the top 3? Very honest.

Race 9 – 5:15PM SEPPELT WINES HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

13. Chesten Flyer – 1. Guns Of Navarone – 5. Platinum Bullet – 7. Charleton Eddie
