The All Blacks have retained the Bledisloe Cup for a 24th consecutive year, beating the Wallabies 50-19 in the opening Test at Eden Park on Saturday.
According to RNZ and RugbyPass, Dave Rennie’s side crushed Les Kiss’s Wallabies after leading only 17-14 at half-time, locking the trophy away and extending New Zealand’s Eden Park dominance. Australia has not beaten the All Blacks at the Auckland fortress since 1986.
Tom Wright opened the scoring for the Wallabies after Ben Donaldson and Max Jorgensen combined, per RugbyPass. Peter Lakai and Tupou Vaa’i replied for the All Blacks, with Damian McKenzie’s conversion and a later penalty stretching the lead before Harry Wilson scored under the posts late in the half to make it 17-14 at the break.
RugbyPass reported the All Blacks took control after the restart. Cam Roigard sniped over, captain Codie Taylor dotted down near the posts, and Leroy Carter finished a short-side move involving Quinn Tupaea and Lakai. Josh Nasser scored a late Wallabies consolation before Josh Moorby and Will Jordan added further tries for New Zealand.
