Adelaide forward Luke Pedlar has requested a trade to Port Adelaide, AFL.com.au reported on Monday, with both South Australian clubs confirming the move is on the table for the upcoming trade period.
Cross-town request confirmed
AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey reported that the out-of-contract forward-midfielder has asked to move across town to the Power rather than pursue Victorian interest from Essendon.
Port Adelaide issued a statement confirming the approach.
“Adelaide forward Luke Pedlar has informed Port Adelaide he wishes to join the club during the upcoming AFL trade period,” the Power said, as quoted by 7NEWS.
“Port Adelaide will work with Adelaide to facilitate a trade for Pedlar when the trade period opens on Monday, October 5.”
7NEWS reported that both South Australian clubs confirmed the news on Monday afternoon. Pedlar is out of contract but is not a free agent, so Adelaide and Port must agree a trade before he can switch jumpers.
Pedlar’s Crow career in brief
Selected with pick 11 in the 2020 national draft, Pedlar has kicked 48 goals from 49 AFL games for Adelaide, according to AFL.com.au. He managed only 10 matches in 2026 and had fallen out of favour under coach Matthew Nicks.
The 24-year-old has shown he can play as a midfielder or forward, but injuries have made it hard for him to lock down a regular senior spot in recent seasons, AFL.com.au said.
If the trade is completed, Pedlar would join a small group of players to have represented both Adelaide clubs at AFL level. 7NEWS said he would become just the seventh player in league history to spend time at both the Crows and the Power, following names such as Billy Frampton, Matthew Bode and Rory Atkins.
Trade period context
The AFL trade period opens on Monday, 5 October. No deal has been struck yet, and compensation between the clubs has not been disclosed.
