Fresh allegations involving three women have intensified scrutiny of the Sydney Swans hotel incident, but no arrests or criminal charges have been announced.
Victoria Police’s Sexual Crimes Squad continues to investigate what allegedly occurred at the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne during the early hours of August 17.
According to Nine’s Wide World of Sports, lawyers representing three women have outlined further allegations while also considering potential civil action.
The allegations have not been tested in court, and police have not publicly identified any person as having committed an offence.
Third Woman Makes Further Allegations
One woman, represented by Slater and Gordon senior lawyer Jackson Pannam, has reportedly made allegations of multiple sexual assaults to police.
Pannam said his client contacted police shortly after the alleged incident and was now attempting to navigate an “incredibly traumatic experience”.
The firm is examining whether she may have grounds to pursue a civil claim.
“Everyone deserves to be safe going about their life, at home, at work and in public spaces without risk of being assaulted or harmed,” Pannam said.
Any potential civil action would be separate from the police investigation and would operate under a different legal process and standard of proof.
No civil proceeding has been determined, and considering or preparing a claim does not establish liability against the club or any individual.
Two Other Women Also Obtain Legal Representation
Carbone Lawyers is representing two other women reportedly present during the hotel gathering.
The firm has alleged its clients were subjected to sexual conduct beyond what had been agreed when they attended the hotel as adult entertainers.
Partner Manny Carbone said the firm was investigating the circumstances and preparing to commence proceedings against the Swans and potentially individuals involved.
However, proceedings being prepared are not the same as a claim being proven or a court making findings against any proposed defendant.
Lawyer John Karantzis has also said the women are experiencing severe stress and anxiety due to the enormous public interest surrounding the investigation.
The privacy and welfare of the women must remain protected while police work to establish what occurred.
Police Have Not Announced Charges
Victoria Police has declined to expand publicly upon the fresh allegations, reportedly saying it had “nothing further to add”.
Detectives have previously confirmed that a number of people have been spoken to and that the precise circumstances remain under investigation.
No arrests or charges have been announced.
That distinction is essential. Allegations made to police represent information investigators must examine; they are not findings of fact or proof that a criminal offence occurred.
Police have also urged media organisations not to contact the complainants, warning that repeated approaches were affecting their welfare and could interfere with the investigation.
Five Suspensions Relate to Club Standards
Sydney has suspended Riley Bice, Nick Blakey, Isaac Heeney, James Jordon and Chad Warner for the remainder of the 2026 season, including the finals.
Those penalties were imposed after the club determined the players had breached internal behavioural standards by remaining out late, drinking and bringing women back to the team hotel.
The sanctions were not findings that any player committed a sexual offence.
The five players subsequently apologised for the behaviour addressed by the club and accepted their suspensions. Their statement should not be interpreted as an admission concerning the separate police investigation.
No official authority has publicly attributed any specific alleged criminal act to an individual player.
Swans Dispute Claims About Club Staff
Karantzis previously claimed more than five men may have been inside the hotel room, but declined to identify them or confirm suggestions that club leaders were present.
Sydney has categorically rejected claims involving its staff.
“The only representatives of the club in the room central to the police investigation were the five players who have been stood down,” the Swans said following their internal inquiries.
The club added that it considered reports suggesting other Sydney representatives were present to be false and was examining its legal position concerning alleged misinformation.
Sydney’s statement establishes the club’s position. The complete identity of everyone allegedly present remains a matter for investigators to determine.
Investigation Overshadows Finals Campaign
The latest developments emerged after a depleted Sydney side defeated North Melbourne by 53 points at the SCG.
Players and staff were visibly emotional following the victory, while coach Dean Cox apologised to supporters and promised the club would attempt to rebuild their trust.
The Swans have secured a top-four finish and will host Brisbane in a qualifying final, but will contest the finals without the five suspended players.
Sydney’s football consequences remain considerable, although they are secondary to the allegations being investigated and their effect on the women involved.
The verified position remains limited: three women have obtained legal representation, lawyers have outlined allegations and potential civil claims, and Victoria Police continues to investigate.
No charges have been laid, no civil liability has been established and no court has made findings against the club or any individual.
