A-League Matchweek 3 Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan
January 8, 2021
Back again this week, great start with Sydney but let down by both Melbourne teams as City receive a second red card in two games. Only a two-match round due to postponements, let’s get going.

Newcastle Jets v Western Sydney FC – McDonald’s Jones Stadium, Friday 7:05 pm AEDT
This will be a juicy meeting, as Berni Ibini and former coach Carl Robinson return to McDonald’s Jones but with the Wanderers. Western Sydney has a horrible record against the Jets, however, many are tipping Newcastle to finish with the wooden spoon or very close to the bottom. Add in the midweek drama involving the Jets owners, this is looking like a Wanderers victory but the chance for plenty of goals.

Macarthur FC v Wellington Phoenix – Campbelltown Stadium, Saturday 5:05 pm AEDT
Macarthur will be keen to get their very first win in the A-League at Home, and I think they will edge out Wellington. The Phoenix impressed in their season opener against Sydney in Wollongong, I do think they will struggle against a side who already have two games under their belt. As this is the first time the two sides have met, there’s no real indication of how they match up against each other.
