Beyond The Reef and Dylan Gibbons stormed down the outside at $31 to win the Group 3 Bisley Workwear Reginald Allen Quality (1400m) for three-year-old fillies at Randwick, beating Pin Up Sheila by a length and a quarter with Hello Liz third. Here’s what the jockeys said.
It is always important to hear what the jockeys say after the race, as you can forgive a horse’s bad run or even find a winner next start, so head to the post-race comments below.
LUCKY KWONG (Andrew Adkins) – 10th
Probably a little outclassed there. Has a bit of growing to do. Will come on from that.
MISS BLACK BETTY (Siena Grima) – 9th
Lovely progressing filly. Once she steps up in trip, we will see the best of her.
LOW KEY (Tim Clark) – 8th
Good honest run. Had a lovely run in transit. Wasn’t beaten too far.

SAFFRON VEIL (James McDonald) – 7th
No luck early. She ran OK.
CALAMARI RING (Ben Melham) – 6th
OK. We were relying on the favourite to give a kick at the top of the straight. It didn’t do that. We had to switch back to the inside and cost us a bit of momentum.
CONSULATE (Tommy Berry) – 5th
Nice filly. Got to the line well late. She is looking for a mile now.
CLOUDY SCOUT (Ashley Morgan) – 4th
She was terrific. Second run and running fourth in a Group Race. Will be a beautiful filly in the Autumn over 2000m.

HELLO LIZ (Kerrin McEvoy) – 3rd
Really happy with her. Got out sharply and handled it well. Was up in distance and the best is still ahead of her.
PIN UP SHEILA (Zac Lloyd) – 2nd
She is going to be a lovely filly. Still learning. Got a bit lost when she hit the front.
BEYOND THE REEF (Dylan Gibbons) – 1st
Yeah she did. I’ve always liked her early days. The only problem with her was she was highly strung. They wanted to have a crack at the Princess Series.
I said probably cool your jets a bit. Fair play to Sarg. They took their time with her. Ran her in maidens. She ran cracking races. They have come here on Everest day in a nice Fillies 1400m black type race and they get a really good reward.
I have always liked her. She is only going to keep getting better. Today was a good stepping stone.
