In the 22nd of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the New England Patriots.
Key Off Season Acquisitions
The Patriots are bringing in a new quarterback this season as Jacoby Brissett of West Palm Beach, Florida takes over from Mac Jones, who will be backing up Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville. Brissett is returning to New England as he spent his rookie season there in 2016. He was simply one of the numerous quarterbacks in New England who have been the backup to Tom Brady.
In 2023, Brissett was the backup to Sam Howell with the Washington Commanders. Howell is now the backup quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks as the Commanders drafted quarterback Jayden Daniels second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Louisiana State. Like the Commanders, the Patriots drafted a quarterback third overall, as they are taking their chances on Drake Maye of Huntersville, North Carolina out of the University of North Carolina.
This season expect Brissett to be the number one QB for the Patriots as Maye learns the NFL game. Last season Brissett completed 18 of 23 passes for 224 passing yards, with three touchdowns and zero interceptions along with three rushes for 19 yards. In between his time with the Patriots and Commanders, Brissett played with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, and Cleveland Browns.
The Patriots also hired within in naming Jerod Mayo of Hampton, Virginia their new head coach to replace Bill Belichick. Mayo, who was a former Patriots linebacker, has been the Patriots inside linebackers coach since 2019.

Projected Finish
This is easy. New England is last in the AFC East, as the other three teams are simply too talented.
