2022 NFL Wildcard Weekend Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

Throughout these playoffs I am going to be previewing and picking every single game, all the way to the Super Bowl. We have had soe big, big success over the past couple of years at this stage of the season so hopefully we can repeat.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers

The first thing I look for in these games are the matchups, and things really look bad for Seattle. The one weakness the 49ers have is defending deep passes, and there are very few teams in the league that do that worse than the Seahawks. The bad weather that is expected for this one also plays into the hands of the 49ers.

I expect both teams to lean on the run game here, and for San Francisco to run away with it, I am going to take the over totals for the RBs and the unders for the QBs. I think Shanahan will want to take the pressure away from Brock Purdy in his first playoff game and Pete Carroll can’t help but run the ball, even when it is perhaps not his best chance of winning.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

This is a tough game to call. On one hand, we have seen the Chargers be very good in the past, and they have some great players, but the Jaguars match up so well with them and that is where I have to lean.

This may be different if the Chargers had just rested their players last week in a completely meaningless game, but they didn’t and came away with a number of injuries. The biggest being Mike Williams who will miss this game and that is big for this offence.

Well what a start to the playoffs we had! Lets follow it up with some more wins.

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills

With Tua and Teddy Bridgewater out, it is left to Skylar Thompson to lead the Dolphins in Buffalo. This line has moved and moved and is now at a massive two touchdowns. I am just going to play the numbers now and say this has got a little out of hand. The Dolphins still have some electric playmakers in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and a good run game – as well as some good pieces on defence. They can keep this one close.

New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings

We have seen just how vulnerable this Vikings pass defence can be, and while I still fancy Minnesota to come out on top here, it really makes me lean towards the over. Both offences have the ability to rack up the points and they could well do so here.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

Lamar Jackson is out, meaning it is hard to see the Ravens winning this outright, but much like with the Dolphins, this line has gone a bit too far. The Bengals have their own injury issues, particularly on the OL, and it may be hard for them to have their way against a good Ravens defensive line.

Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This is a tough one to call. The Cowboys looked so poor last week, but I am happy to put that down to them looking ahead to this game as they were unlikely to change their seeding in that game. The Buccaneers have had a number of comebacks of late, but that is because they have been so poor and let themselves fall behind. The Cowboys powerful offence can punish them if they start slow here.
