Hornets set franchise record for most points in one game with 158

It was a great night for the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday as they set a franchise record for most points in a single game according to ESPN. In an offensive explosion, the Hornets defeated the Indiana Pacers 158-126.
The Hornets previous record for most points in a game came in a 146-143 Charlotte loss to the Houston Rockets on November 27, 2021. The 158 points was also the most points scored by a team in the NBA this season. The previous high was by the Memphis Grizzlies in a 152-79 romp over the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 27. The 73-point Memphis win was the most dominant victory by one team in one game in NBA history.
The Detroit Pistons have the record for the most points in one game with 186. It came in a 186-184 win over the Denver Nuggets on December 13, 1983. Ironically, the Nuggets have the second most points scored in one game, which was also set that night.
The Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics share the NBA record for most points in a regulation game with 173. The Suns defeated the Nuggets 173-143 on November 10, 1990, and the Celtics defeated the Minneapolis Lakers 173-139 on February 27, 1959.
In the Hornets win over the Pacers, it was also the most number of points Indiana has given up in a game since they joined the NBA in 1976. Their previous high was 155 points in a 155-150 loss to the Nuggets on December 28, 1982.
Kelly Oubre Jr. led the Hornets in scoring with 39 points on Wednesday. Meanwhile, LaMelo Ball had a triple-double as he had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. With the win, the Hornets improve to a record of 27 wins and 22 losses, and are seventh in the Eastern Conference.
