Usain Bolt To Prove Doubters Wrong
August 22, 2018
At 32 years old it isn’t common to be making a football debut but then what is common about 8x Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt?
Bolt completed the first step of his journey to become a professional football player on Tuesday and it seems it wasn’t as easy for him as winning gold medals.
“The first day of training is always the roughest” said Bolt.
“I have basic skills” he admitted.
Experts are excited by the arrival of Bolt as it is sure to attract plenty of interest to the A-League and boost crowd numbers for the Central Coast Mariners but there is still a question over his football skills.
“His movement’s not of a professional player’s standard at the moment but, obviously, there’s plenty to work with” said Ray Gatt, The Australian chief football writer.
However nobody will disagree the bolt loves a challenge and is eager to prove the doubters wrong.
“For me this is a challenge and that’s how I try to rise to be my best”
It is still uncertain if Bolt will be named for the Mariners’ first season game on the 21st of October against the Brisbane Roar.
