Future Star of the Week Prithvi Shaw – A Cricket Superstar On The Rise

October 11, 2018

By Lindsay

This week’s future star is Indian teenage cricket sensation, Prithvi Shaw. We have everything you need to know about the teenage cricketer

  • Name: Prithvi Shaw
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Teams: India, Delhi Daredevils
  • Age: 18
  • Height: 1.65m (5ft 4″)

Young Indian cricket star Prithvi Shaw is our latest Future Star of the Week. Shaw first emerged as a serious future talent as a 14-year-old schoolboy where he scored an astronomical 546 runs off just 330 balls for his school Rizvi Springfield.

Shaw made his Test debut in spectacular fashion against West Indies last week, making 134 runs in his first innings. He was the youngest Indian batsman since the great Sachin Tendulkar to score a century. Furthermore, he was the all-time youngest Indian score a Test century on debut.

These amazing feats have seen him draw comparisons to India’s greatest ever batsman, Sachin Tendulkar. But it’s not only these achievements where the similarities exist. Both hail from the city of Mumbai, both are iconically short in stature and both hold MRF bat sponsorships.

In a country where the game of cricket rivals religion, it’s easy to imagine the noise surrounding this teenager.

Australian cricket fans may remember a 19-year-old Tendulkar launching himself onto the world scene by scoring two centuries during the 1992 Australian summer. In another twist of fate, it just so happens that Shaw will be a part of the Indian side that tours Australia this summer!
