February 1, 2019

By Lindsay

Following another midweek round that produced multiple results that nobody could have predicted, Week 25 of the Premier League is in full flight again and we’ve got everything you need to know about your team below

TOTTENHAM VS NEWCASTLE – SATURDAY 2 FEBRUARY, 12:30PM, WEMBLEY STADIUM

Spurs

Last 5 Matches: LWLWW
Ladder Position: 3rd
Goal Difference: +26 (GF 50, GA 24)

Newcastle

Last 5 Matches: DLLWW
Ladder Position: 14th
Goal Difference: -11 (GF 21, GA 32)

Tottenham will be feeling a lot better about its come from behind win against Watford on Thursday morning looking at others dropping points around them.

Newcastle helped them out by picking up a massive upset over Manchester City on Wednesday morning, putting Spurs back within touching distance.

Wembley has not really been the “fortress” as Spurs have been forced to extend their lease on the ground as they wait for the new White Hart Lane.

Did You Know?

None of Spurs’ last 20 PL home fixtures against Newcastle have ended as a draw (12 wins for Spurs, eight for Newcastle).

Betting Insights

  • Tottenham has won each of its last four EPL matches against Newcastle United following a win.
  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in six of Tottenham’s last seven EPL matches.
  • Across all competitions, Son Heung-min has scored eight goals in his last nine appearances for Tottenham.

TIP: Spurs

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION VS WATFORD – SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, AMEX STADIUM

Brighton

Last 5 Matches: WDLLL
Ladder Position: 13th
Goal Difference: -9 (GF 27, GA 36)

Watford

Last 5 Matches: DDWDL
Ladder Position: 9th
Goal Difference: -1 (GF 33, GA 34)

Brighton have slipped into a worrying run of form and are facing a potential fourth-straight defeat here. The Hornets blew a chance to take points away from Spurs midweek and they are another team who can win this round, should they muster a similar performance.

Did You Know?

Brighton have never lost a PL match in February (W2 D1). They are one of just two teams to be unbeaten in a single month in the competition’s history, along with Blackpool, whose record in December is W2 D0 L0.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in each of Watford’s last four EPL matches as an underdog.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in each of Watford’s last four EPL matches as an underdog.
  • Glenn Murray has scored three goals in Brighton’s two EPL matches as a home favourite this season.

TIP: Brighton

BURNLEY VS SOUTHAMPTON – SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, TURF MOOR

Burnley

Last 5 Matches: WWWDD
Ladder Position: 17th
Goal Difference: -20 (GF 25, GA 45)

Southampton

Last 5 Matches: LDWWD
Ladder Position: 16th
Goal Difference: -15 (GF 26, GA 41)

Occupying the two positions directly above the Premier League relegation zone, Burnley and Southampton will go in search of a crucial three points when they face off at Turf Moor. Season 2018/19 has thus far been similar for these clubs, seeing the opening few months prove a major struggle before finding form in December.

The Clarets remain undefeated in five EPL matches after most recently being held 2-2 at Manchester United, despite leading by two goals as late as the 87th minute. The Saints’ run of improved form stretches back slightly further, with the side defeated only twice from eight league outings. The reverse fixture between these sides proved similarly tight, albeit bereft of entertainment, as they drew 0-0 at St. Mary’s.

Did You Know?

Only Manchester United, with seven matches, are on a longer unbeaten PL run than Burnley, with five.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in seven of Southampton’s last eight EPL matches as an underdog.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in eight of Southampton’s last nine EPL day matches.
  • Chris Wood has scored a goal in three of Burnley’s last five EPL matches.

TIP: Burnley

CHELSEA VS HUDDERSFIELD TOWN – SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, STAMFORD BRIDGE

Chelsea

Last 5 Matches: WDWLL
Ladder Position: 5th
Goal Difference: +17 (GF 40, GA 23)

Huddersfield

Last 5 Matches: LLDLL
Ladder Position: 20th
Goal Difference: -28 (GF 13, GA 41)

Chelsea were another shock loser midweek, but they’re offered the perfect opportunity to respond when they host the last-placed Terriers. Huddersfield were handed another defeat by Everton most-recent and face a far tougher task in this one.

Did You Know?

Chelsea are aiming to avoid a third consecutive PL defeat, having last suffered a hat-trick of losses in November 2015.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in five of Chelsea’s last six EPL home matches.
  • Chelsea has kept a clean sheet in four of its last six EPL home matches.

TIP: Chelsea -1.0

CRYSTAL PALACE VS FULHAM – SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, SELHURST PARK

Palace

Last 5 Matches: LWLLD
Ladder Position: 15th
Goal Difference: -9 (GF 24, GA 33)

Fulham

Last 5 Matches: WLLLW
Ladder Position: 19th
Goal Difference: -28 (GF 25, GA 53)

Fulham are aiming to build on their midweek home win over Brighton & Hove Albion, while visitors Crystal Palace are targeting their first victory in four Premier League matches.

Did You Know?

Fulham have only lost one of their last 11 away league matches against Crystal Palace (W5 D5), with that defeat coming in the Premier League in October 2004.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in seven of Crystal Palace’s last eight EPL day matches as a favourite.
  • Crystal Palace has kept a clean sheet in four of its last five EPL matches as a home favourite.
  • Fulham is winless in its 12 EPL away matches this season.

TIP: Crystal Palace

EVERTON VS WOLVERHAMPTON – SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, GOODISON PARK

Everton

Last 5 Matches: LLWLW
Ladder Position: 8th
Goal Difference: +2 (GF 35, GA 33)

Wolves

Last 5 Matches: WLLWW
Ladder Position: 7th
Goal Difference: -1 (GF 30, GA 31)

Two straight wins for Wolves has them up to seventh spot despite a negative goal difference and they could put some distance between themselves and seventh placed Everton with a win here.

Whoever gets to dictate this game will probably be the more successful team, with Wolves looking to score a bunch while Everton will likely want this to be a much lower scoring encounter.

Four of Everton’s last five games have had two or fewer goals while four of Wolves’ last five have had three or more goals.

Did You Know?

Five of the last seven PL meetings between these sides have ended as draws, with the Toffees winning the other two in 2011.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in five of Wolverhampton’s last six EPL day matches as an underdog.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has failed to hit in four of Everton’s last five EPL matches.
  • Across all competitions, Raul Jimenez has scored five goals in Wolverhampton’s last seven matches.

TIP: Draw

CARDIFF VS BOURNEMOUTH – SUNDAY 3 FEBRUARY, 5:30PM, CARDIFF CITY STADIUM

Cardiff

Last 5 Matches: WLDLL
Ladder Position: 18th
Goal Difference: -26 (GF 20, GA 46)

Bournemouth

Last 5 Matches: LDLWW
Ladder Position: 10th
Goal Difference: -5 (GF 37, GA 42)

Bournemouth enter this match in search of a third-consecutive win and more importantly, off the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Chelsea. The Cherries have produced several outstanding performances this season and continue a climb back into the top ten, and they’re faced with another great opportunity to dispatch a lowly opponent.

Did You Know?

Cardiff have only lost two of their last 16 home league matches against AFC Bournemouth. Eddie Howe featured for the Cherries when the south-coast side last won this fixture in March 2000.

Betting Insights

  • The favourite has won 10 of Bournemouth’s last 12 EPL matches.
  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in each of Cardiff’s last five EPL night matches.
  • Joshua King has scored three goals in Bournemouth’s last two EPL matches.

TIP: Bournemouth

LEICESTER CITY VS MANCHESTER UNITED – MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY, 2:05PM, KING POWER STADIUM

Leicester

Last 5 Matches: LWLLD
Ladder Position: 11th
Goal Difference: 0 (GF 30, GA 30)

United

Last 5 Matches: WWWWD
Ladder Position: 6th
Goal Difference: +13 (GF 48, GA 35)

After its eight-match winning streak across all competitions was ended by a midweek 2-2 draw against Burnley, Manchester United will attempt to swiftly bounce back against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Although it ultimately proved disappointing, that draw further demonstrated the fight within United’s players under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, as they came from two goals down in the 87th minute to pick up a point.

Leicester displayed a similar fighting spirit on Wednesday, resulting in a 1-1 draw against league-leading Liverpool at Anfield. That draw continued a trend which has seen the Foxes take it right up to the league’s best sides; Leicester has recorded wins over Chelsea and Manchester City in recent times. However, Old Trafford wasn’t as welcoming earlier this season, with the Foxes falling 2-1 to United as Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw found the net.

Did You Know?

Leicester have won only one of their 12 home Premier League matches against Man Utd, coming from two goals down to win 5-3 in September 2014 (D4 L7).

The Foxes have won more points from losing positions than any other Premier League side this season (13).

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in eight of Manchester United’s last nine EPL matches as a favourite.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in eight of Manchester United’s last nine EPL matches as a favourite.
  • Paul Pogba has scored six goals in Manchester United’s last six EPL matches.

TIP: United

MANCHESTER CITY VS ARSENAL – MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY, 4:30PM, ETIHAD STADIUM

City

Last 5 Matches: WWWWL
Ladder Position: 2nd
Goal Difference: +44 (GF 63, GA 19)

Arsenal

Last 5 Matches: LWLWW
Ladder Position: 4th
Goal Difference: +17 (GF 50, GA 33)

Blowing a golden opportunity to gain ground in the title race by falling at Newcastle midweek, Manchester City will be absolutely desperate to return to the winners list when Arsenal visits the Etihad. That 2-1 loss on Tyneside came despite Sergio Aguero netting the opener for City, which marked the side’s first points dropped of this calendar year.

The Sky Blues will be heavily favoured to bounce back on Sunday given they have defeated Arsenal on four consecutive occasions across all competitions, including a 2-0 triumph at the Emirates on the opening weekend of this season. Furthermore, the Gunners haven’t won as away underdogs in the Premiership from their last 17 attempts, stretching back to January 2015 when they actually defeated City 2-0.

Did You Know?

Man City have won their last three Premier League matches against Arsenal and can make it four in a row in the top flight against the Gunners for the first time since April 1937.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in each of Manchester City’s last 10 EPL day matches.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in 10 of Arsenal’s last 11 EPL away matches.
  • Across all competitions, Gabriel Jesus has scored eight goals in Manchester City’s last four home matches.

TIP: City

WEST HAM VS LIVERPOOL – TUESDAY 5 FEBRUARY, 8:00PM, LONDON STADIUM

Goal Difference: -7 (GF 30, GA 37)

Liverpool

Last 5 Matches: WLWWD
Ladder Position: 1st
Goal Difference: +41 (GF 55, GA 14)

There is a pretty good chance Liverpool will be highly motivated this weekend after drawing with Leicester during the week.

That is bad news for a West Ham side that is coming off a poor showing against Wolves and has not scored a goal in almost two and a half matches.

Did You Know?

West Ham have lost their last four Premier League matches against Liverpool, conceding exactly four times in each defeat (0-4, 1-4, 1-4  and 0-4).

Betting Insights

  • Both teams average over 2.5 match goals 54% in EPL matches
  • Clashes at London Stadium average a total of 2.9 goals
