Australia vs Pakistan 2nd Test Preview: Can Australia Build On Momentum?

October 16, 2018

Australia will take momentum into today’s 2nd Test against Pakistan as they look to reshuffle their suspect batting order to prevent a collapse similar to what we saw in the 1st innings of the 1st Test.

The 1st Test between Australia and Pakistan may have finished in a draw but Australia head into today’s 2nd Test feeling like winners after batting for 130 overs to secure the unlikely result in the 4th innings.

Travis Head looks like he’ll be promoted to No.4 in the batting line-up after his pivotal role in saving the last Tes. This would mean all-rounder Mitch Marsh would drop down one spot to No.5.

The potentially green wicket could also see an extra pace bowler added to the Aussie arsenal. New skipper Tim Paine discussed the wicket yesterday.

“I did see it from a distance and it doesn’t look like it’s changed a great deal,” Paine mentioned during Australia’s final training session.

“I’m not sure how hard it is. I imagine underneath it would still be really hard”.

The Aussies’ pace contingent of Starc, Siddle and Mitch Marsh could be bolstered by Micheal Neser who has been the leading wicket-taker in the previous two Sheffield Shield seasons.
