Trial Review: Horses You Must Follow From The Trials Over The Past Week 17/5
Dean Watling has taken a look back over the trials of the past week and a half, reviewing the replays and times to come up with eleven horses to follow first up and through their prep.

Archery Butts – Hawkesbury 11/5/20

A Godolphin 3yo gelding who is returning for his second prep after failing in two runs in his first prep.

If his recent trial is anything to go by he has returned in super shape commanding away from the field to run slick trial time untested. He got home in 46.46, second fastest of the 800m trials behind impressive Saturday runner Aquitaine.

When To Bet

1100 – 1200m on top of the ground looks key. We want him to map in the first half of the field just off the speed. Money and yard watch.

Indigenous – Randwick 15/5/20

Yet to break her maiden but was knocking on the door last prep. She looks to have returned in great order this time around and can knock off a nice maiden.

She boasts nice form around L’cosmo and Electric Girl last prep and has a very nice on speed racing pattern. She has looked to have come back bigger and stronger.

She extended away under a nice hold over the 1045m trials to gap her rivals, L600 – 34.61 was the fastest on the morning for the 1040m trials.

When To Bet

Look for Tim Clark to stick over a suitable sprint distance. Can see her knocking over a provincial maiden where she maps on speed.

Garrison – Randwick 15/5/20

A Snowden trained 3yo I Am Invincible gelding who has very solid form but is yet to read his maiden.

Going off his recent trials he has returned in great order commanding away in his latest 1045m trial to win my a smart margin. He has a nice turn of foot and looks to get better over a bit of ground.

Loved the way he responded to riding in his recent trial and savaged the line.

When To Bet

Sprint trip where he has time to wind up and get through his gears. Solid tempo where he maps in the first 4.

Super Swiss – Randwick 15/5/20

I was ultra impressed by the arrogant trial of this NZ horse Super Swiss when under her own steam powering away to win her latest trial with ease. The 4yo mare has only had the 2 starts for 1 win and 2nd.

James Innes let her stroll up to the leader under her own steam with her cracking stride, from there she was able to hold the margin. The 2nd horse All Cylinders is nice horse too adding to the trial win.

When To Bet

Keen to follow where ever she goes first up. Look for a second trial now over 1-45m before a return to racing.

Rosa Moyessi – Randwick 15/5/20

I was impressed by the quite trial of this I Am Invincible filly who was able to slot in behind the speed and close under a nice hold, she had plenty to give.

She looks to have a real motor and a relaxed manner. She was doing the best out of her heat and is the one to follow.

When To Bet

Another trial now over 1045m before debut, we are looking for her to improve and find the line with intent. Making sure she handles the pressure as well.

Jimmy’s Dream – Randwick 15/5/20

Wow, what a cracking turn of the foot this Not A Single Doubt colt possesses, showing a nice turn of speed on his first public appearance.

He knuckled down and showed a nice action attacking the line well, he was then asked over the closing 100m to chase the leader and that he did. In a matter of strides, he put pay to the field eased downs with the ears pricked.

Looks very smart.

When To Bet

Looks a nice type and we want to see natural improvement into his next trial over 1045m. Looks to have the big ability.
