Game three of the 2026 NBA Finals took place on Monday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This was considered the place to be and the first time since 1999 that the Knicks hosted a game in the NBA Finals.
There was an interesting promotion leading up to the game. Two celebrity row seats went up for auction, with the winning bid going for $1 million. According to Aikansh Chaudhary of HITC, the tickets were split by the New York law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and the private equity firm of Veritas Capital, with the money from the auction going to the New York Knicks’s Garden of Dreams Foundation.
Anyway you look at it, it is amazing that anyone would pay $1 million for two tickets to a basketball game. Yes, it could be a cool experience. but we are still talking $1 million.
As for what happened on the court, well the Spurs got back into the series in game three. After losing the first two games, San Antonio responded with a 115-111 win. The Spurs got the win despite a shaky second quarter where they were outscored 42-24.
In game three, six Spurs reached double digits in scoring. All-Star center Victor Wembanyama of Le Chesnay, France led the way with 32 points. Guard Stephon Castle of Covington, Georgia had 23 points, shooting guard Dylan Harper of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey had 13 points off the bench, point guard De’Aaron Fox of New Orleans, Louisiana and small forward Julian Champagnie of Brooklyn, New York had 12 points each, and shooting guard Devin Vassell of Lawrenceville, Georgia had 11 points.
